1. Introduction & Legal Basis
This Privacy Policy describes how FlatMate ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and shares your personal data.
- Legal Basis: This policy is drafted in accordance with the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, 5741-1981 ("PPL") and its regulations.
- Database Owner: The database is owned and managed by the FlatMate Partnership.
- Consent: By using the App, you consent to the collection and processing of your information as described herein. You are not legally required to provide this information, but without it, we cannot provide the Service.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Personal Information: Full name, email address, phone number (for OTP verification), and profile photo.
- User Content: Photos of properties you upload, descriptions, and chat history between users.
- Location Data: We collect precise location data (GPS) to provide map-based services and show properties near you. You can enable or disable this at any time in your device settings.
- AI Interactions: We process the text queries you send to our AI agent to generate responses and improve our matching algorithms.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your data solely for the following purposes:
- Service Provision: To connect roommates and hosts, and to verify your identity via Email, Google, or Apple.
- AI Functionality: To power our AI Agent, allowing it to fetch relevant listings from our database based on your questions.
- Safety & Security: To monitor chat for harassment, enforce our Terms, and prevent fraud.
- Marketing (Spam Law Compliance): We will only send you marketing messages or newsletters if you have explicitly opted-in, in full compliance with Section 30A of the Communications Law (Telecommunications and Broadcasting), 1982. You may opt-out at any time.
4. Sharing & Transfer of Data
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with trusted third-party service providers necessary to operate the App:
- Cloud & Database Providers: To securely store user data (e.g., Supabase/AWS).
- AI Service Providers: To process natural language queries.
- International Transfer: We may store data on servers located outside of Israel (e.g., in Australia or the EU). We ensure these providers comply with GDPR or similar standards recognized by Israeli regulations as providing "adequate protection."
5. Data Security
We implement information security measures in accordance with the Privacy Protection Regulations (Data Security), 5777-2017. This includes encryption (SSL/TLS), access control, and secure server architecture. However, please be aware that no system is immune to cyber-attacks.
6. Your Rights & Data Deletion
You have full control over your data.
- Right to Inspect & Correct: Under Israeli law, you may request to review the information we hold about you and request corrections if it is inaccurate.
- Account Deletion: You have the right to delete your account and associated data at any time.
- How to Delete: You can request deletion directly within the App Settings (under "Account" > "Delete Account") or by emailing support@flatmate-il.com.
- Process: Upon request, we will permanently delete your personal identifiers and photos within 30 days, except where retention is strictly required by law (e.g., for fraud prevention logs).
